The staff of Kern and Pixley National Wildlife Refuges would like you to come and join us for National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 25, 2010. From 7:00am-2:00pm, participants will come out and volunteer by clearing brush from buildings, cleaning up debris, clearing water control structures, and brushing up waterfowl hunt blinds, to prepare for the waterfowl opener, Saturday, October 9, 2010. In addition, a shotgun patterning demonstration will be offered. Volunteers are asked to bring water, sun block, a hat, and non-lead shot if participating in the shotgun patterning demonstration. An appreciation lunch will be served at noon complete with beverages and dessert. For more information, please contact the Kern National Wildlife Refuge at 661-725-2767.
