Secretary Jewell launches $100 million Hurricane Sandy competitive grant program

Oct. 29, 2013 - Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell today announced the launch of a competitive $100 million Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Grant Program, on the one-year anniversary of the super storm’s landfall near Brigantine, N.J. The grant program will fund science-based solutions to restore natural areas along the Atlantic Coast and to make coastal communities more resilient to future storms, in accordance with President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force Strategy Report and the Administration’s commitment laid out in the Climate Action Plan. The program will be administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and project proposals by states, local communities, Tribes, non-profit organizations and other partners will be accepted beginning today
