Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge encompasses approximately 1,600 acres of white-tailed deer habitat across four hunt units. The refuge recently wrapped up its annual white-tailed deer hunt for the 2017-2018 hunting season. The hunt opportunity was extremely popular this year: not only were all the available spots filled, but a substantial number of hunters also formed a stand-by list. The refuge hosted seven days of archery hunting and four days of shotgun hunting. A total of 22 deer were harvested, and a total of 163 hunters participated in the refuge hunt.
