The Big Oaks Conservation Society, in cooperation with the refuge, annually host an outdoor learning event just for women at Big Oaks. The one day event is designed to offer women age 12 and over the opportunity to gain valuable in-the-field skills and knowledge in an environment that encourages fun and success in the outdoors. The exciting program targets women of all ages who want to learn outdoor skills through courses addressing topics including fly-fishing, kayaking, canoeing, bird watching, archery, shooting, and much more! All activities begin and end at the beautiful and historic Old timbers Lodge The event is organized by women for women who want to expand their outdoor skills in a fun, supportive environment.
