Twin Capes: Migratory Birds

The area from Cape May, NJ to Cape Charles, VA is one of the most important migratory corridors and stopovers in the world. The objective of the Twin Capes exhibit was to educate the public about the importance of the Twin Capes Region to migratory birds. Bird migration along the mid-Atlantic coast is a spectacular phenomenon, which consists of millions of birds each spring and fall. Read more..

Our main objectives for this exhibit was to heighten awareness in relation to issues of concern and potential solutions relating to migratory bird fall migration focusing on the Twin Capes, and the refuges within this area, and emphasis on the Refuge Centennial. Read more...

Each year, international wildlife trade accounts for billions of dollars through the sale of hundreds of millions of plants, animals, and wildlife products.  While there are many legal forms of wildlife trade, there is also illegal trade, which can be a contributing factor in bringing some species close to the brink of extinction.  Many people are not aware of the illegal trade in wildlife.
