Target Audience:

FWS employees responsible for writing visitor services plans, including step-down plans.

Summary and Objectives:

Having a plan for a station's visitor services program is important to ensure resources are used effectively. This course will enable FWS employees responsible for visitor services to develop a plan for a visitor services program at a field station that is consistent with current guidance, the station's CCP and, is effective at providing direction the station's program management. This online course includes six 90-minute training sessions as well as assignments to be completed outside of the scheduled instruction sessions.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of planning as a tool to effectively accomplish the station's purpose and agency's mission.
  • Evaluate a CCP to determine the appropriate process to develop the VS Step-down plan.
  • Develop a visitor services step-down plan that meets both agency and field station needs.
