National Wildlife Refuge is seeking qualified bidders to obtain a Special Use Permit (SUP) to harvest estimated volumes* of selected timber using Cut-to-Length (CTL) equipment from the Webb King Wildlife Habitat Management Unit (WHMU). The primary purpose of this project is to improve forest habitat for wildlife, reduce wildland fire fuels and prepare forest areas for prescribed fire. This WHMU requires cutting and removal of mixed species according to specific species and diameter limits by a qualified logger using cut-to-length harvesters and forwarders. This unit is to be logged between 01 October 2026 and 15 April 2028 with all slash piling and final road maintenance to be completed no later than 15 April 2028, operating conditions permitting.

This Wildlife Habitat Management Unit is located within the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge, as follows T34N, R41E, parts Sec(s) 17,18,19 & 20, Stevens County, W.M., for a total of approximately 543 acres.

Access to these units is provided by County and Refuge roads. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will accept sealed bids, on the appropriate bid application form, at the Little Pend Oreille NWR Headquarters Office, 1310 Bear Creek Road, Colville, WA 99114 until 9:00 AM, Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026. At 10:00 AM a public bid opening will be conducted. All bids must be received by 9:00 AM at the above specified location and contain all information specified in the application. All sealed envelopes must be clearly marked Webb King WHMU Sale of Natural Resources. The Special Use Permit (SUP) to be issued to the successful bidder contains a section entitled Special Conditions regarding method of harvest, utilization, and timing of operations, road use, stewardship obligations and other requirements for the successful execution of the permit.
