Secretary Bernhardt Announces $78 Million for Wetland Conservation Projects and National Wildlife Refuges
The Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved $63 million in grants for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and its partners to conserve or restore more than 326,000 acres of wetland and associated upland habitats for waterfowl, shorebirds and other birds across the United States, Canada and Mexico through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act grant program.
These grants will be matched by $115 million in partner funds across a total of 47 projects. The Commission also approved $15 million to acquire nearly 5,000 acres for five National Wildlife Refuges using funds from sales of Duck Stamps, among other sources.
