Year of the Bird

2018 World Bird Day

After a quarter century of working with diverse partners in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean to help protect our shared natural resources and train the next generation of conservationists, International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) is transforming. In 2018, Environment for the Americas, IMBD’s sponsor since 2007, joins the Convention on Migratory Species and the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds to create a single, global bird conservation education campaign: World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD). Continuing the IMBD tradition, WMBD brings attention to one of the most important and spectacular events in the Americas – bird migration. WMBD will be celebrated the second Saturday in May and October. But since birds don’t migrate on the same day, WMBD can be celebrated any time of the year!
