Environmental Education
Tijuana Estuary Explorers is a backpack field experience that meets California 3rd-5th grade standards for math, science and language arts.

Interpretation
The award-winning Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center and native plant garden is open 7 days a week. The Center offers the "Tijuana Estuary Explorer" education program, interactive exhibits, guided bird and nature walks along 4 miles of trails, research, Junior Ranger and many other programs for people of all ages. Refuge trails are open from sunrise to sunset.

Wildlife Observation
The Tijuana Slough Refuge provides outstanding opportunities for wildlife observation, photography, and environmental education and interpretation. Refuge trails and viewing decks provide sweeping views of the Tijuana Estuary, which is home to over 400 bird species. Nature trails are used by the public and schools to learn about the natural history of salt marshes.
