Request a Species List

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the Pacific Islands works to ensure a future for over 500 threatened or endangered species.

  • For official species lists required for planning or review under the Endangered Species Act.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provides species lists for actions authorized, funded or carried out by federal agencies. The species list fulfills our requirement, under section 7(c) of the Endangered Species Act, to provide a list of threatened and endangered species upon request for federal actions and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance

An official species list is an official letter from the local U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that will assist you in evaluating the potential impacts of your project. It includes a list of species and critical habitat that should be considered under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act..

If your project requires USFWS review under the Endangered Species Act, you can request an official species list from the Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office.
