at Makah National Fish Hatchery and beyondThe Makah National Fish Hatchery (MNFH) is located on the Tsoo-Yess River. Fishing on the Tsoo-Yess River is open to the public and the best time to fish it is in the fall when the salmon and steelhead return. Please note that anglers are required to follow the tribal fishing regulations, including purchasing a tribal fishing license, to fish on reservation land.
The tribal regulations and fishing licenses can be purchased Washburn's General Store in Neah Bay. Seasonal tribal fishing regulations are posted as applicable here.
There are also plenty of offshore opportunities in the area including: salmon, halibut, ling cod and rock fish. A Washighton Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) fishing license is required for off shore fishing in the area. The WDFW fishing regulations can be found here.

The Makah National Fish Hatchery also hosts an annual Kids Fishing Day in partnership with the Makah Tribe. In addition to trout fishing, there are other activities including: arts & crafts, casting & fish ID games and safe archery. There is also an extensive raffle for bikes and fishing gearThe Makah NFH aims to host this event on the first day of National Fishing and Boating Week (first Saturday of June), however dates may vary.

Visit the Makah Museum!
When visiting the Makah NFH, be sure to stop by to tour the Makah Museum. This museum displays and interprets a host of artifacts, including 300-500 year old pieces recovered from the Ozette Archealogical Site. A great way to learn a little more about the culture that our hatchery strives to support.
