Joe harvested his first gobbler on April 24, 2018 through the mentored hunting program at the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge in partnership with the National Wild Turkey Federation. The refuge and NWTF work together to provide both hunting education and actual hunting experience for youth, women, and disabled hunters (both Veterans and non-Veterans). Experienced hunting mentors from NWTF guide hunt participants on a special portion of the refuge set aside for mentored spring turkey hunts as well as fall deer hunts. Next up to turkey hunt are the Women in the Outdoors participants in May. We wish them luck!
