Print Friendly Version

We are very proud of Cyndie Abeyta receiving the Department of Interior Award, Manual Lujan Jr. Champions Award in Washington D.C., October 17, 2006.  Cyndie was one of nine employees in the Department of Interior that recognizes outstanding work in carrying out the Department's mission in areas that impact Hispanic communities.  Champions are considered as individuals who go beyond the call of duty to help promote an initiative and are not afraid to take on tough assignments and tend to be innovative risk takers that challenge an organization to a higher level of performance.

Ms. Abeyta has devoted 28 years of service to the Federal government, with over 5 years with the Fish and Wildlife Service as the Middle Rio Grande Bosque Coordinator in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Ms. Abeyta has participated in numerous outreach events in predominantly Hispanic and Native American communities and has been involved with recruiting many students.
