Going outside is good for everyone, but from a kid’s point of view, outdoor play competes with video games, the internet, and television. Kids often need encouragement to explore their backyards or neighborhood parks.
While team sports are great exercise, kids also benefit from unstructured play to improve their imagination and independence. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service launched Connecting People with Nature to encourage people, especially the younger generation, to have fun outdoors exploring nature. Kids don’t have to go far to find nature – they can discover it in a crawling bug, or a plant growing in the sidewalk |
