The Winthrop National Fish Hatchery (WNFH) provides educational opportunities and experiences to people of all ages. Hatchery staff welcome the public to visit the facility, learn about hatchery operations, and gain understanding about the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services fisheries program. One of the most popular educational activities is held each June at the Winthrop NFH. This popular "Passport to Fishing" program combines fishing with fun outdoor education activities that help connect families with nature. Visit our events page for more information. Winthrop National Fish Hatchery is part of the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery Complex (LNFHC) Information and Education Department. This comprehensive year-round program provides natural resource education, visitor services, and public outreach to more than 150,000 visitors per year. North central Washington school districts and colleges, agency partners, and local communities are also recipients of this department’s activities.
