Wind Energy Training Series: Announcing Broadcast #5 April 23, 2014

March 18, 2014

Since May of 2012, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has hosted a bimonthly training broadcast series covering emerging issues and providing direction for wind energy facility planning, development, and operations to avoid impacts to wildlife and their habitat. The final broadcast of the series is scheduled for April 23, 2014, 2 to 4 pm ET, and will focus on the latest and greatest in research. Host Christy Johnson-Hughes will be joined by Cris Hein of Bat Conservation International and Chad Le Beau and Wally Erickson of WEST, Inc. to share research results and conclusions related to bats, grassland birds, and sage grouse.

Announcing the 4th Broadcast of Wind Energy Training Series for Voluntary Land-Based Wind Energy Guidelines

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is hosting a training broadcast series to cover the voluntary Land-based Wind Energy Guidelines (WEG) and other relevant wind energy topics.

The fourth broadcast will air on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 2:00 to 4:00 pm ET. Host Christy Johnson-Hughes will be joined by several guests who will focus on how the WEG apply to distributed wind energy projects; coordination with State agencies; and the identification of “species of habitat fragmentation concern” as defined in the WEG.

Wind Energy Training Series Underway

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is hosting a training broadcast series to cover the voluntary Land-based Wind Energy Guidelines and other relevant topics associated with wind energy.

The bimonthly broadcasts will cover emerging issues and provide direction for wind energy facility planning, development, and operations.

Stay tuned for the next broadcast coming in early 2014!  We will announce the date and information on how to register on this website as soon as it is scheduled.

Final Land-Based Wind Energy Guidelines
March 23, 2012

The Department of the Interior today released guidelines designed to help wind energy project developers avoid and minimize impacts of land-based wind projects on wildlife and their habitats. The voluntary guidelines will help shape the smart siting, design and operation of the nation's growing wind energy economy.
