Hunting Regulations:
Hunting is allowed on a limited basis on Wheeler NWR. Wheeler NWR Hunting Permits can be obtained at the refuge office, visitor center, or downloaded via the link below and printed. You must read, understand, sign, and have the signed portion of the signed portion of the permit in your possession while hunting on the Refuge.

State of Alabama Hunting Regulations
Hunter's Safety Education:
Refuge hunters under age 16 must have passed a State approved hunter education course, must be supervised by an adult 21 years of age or older, and must remain in sight and normal voice contact with the adult. On small game hunts the adult may supervise no more than two youths, and on big game hunts no more than one youth. For information on Hunter Safety Education
Fishing Regulations:
Fishing on Wheeler NWR is regulated by the State of Alabama fishing regulations. Creel limits and fishing regulations are set by the state. See State Fishing Regualtions. However, some areas on the refuge are more restrictive than the state, see Wheeler NWR Fishing Brochure.
Boat Ramps:
Six (6) improved and eight (8) unimproved boat ramps are located on the refuge.
