History and Summary of Changes

This is the third iteration of wetlands data provided via computer connections to the public. The new Wetlands Mapper replaces the previous 'Interactive Wetland Mapper Tool' with a new and improved data set. Additional capabilities, improved access and explanatory information are continually under development. Users are requested to be aware that this site is expanding and changing.

There are a number of dissimilarities between the older 'Interactive Wetland Mapper Tool' and the new interface. Several of these are noteworthy to the user and include:

• The new mapper provides client-server database access with a greatly improved interface.
• It provides a truly seamless digital wetland data layer and map data in a single standard projection.

Several improvements have been made to the data on this web site. Some of these improvements include:

• Increased the coordinate precision of the data
• Updated wetland attribute codes
• Forthcoming meta data links for both the project level and supplemental wetland information
• Improved base cartographic information and display with direct links to THE NATIONAL MAP
• Enhanced map display and usability
• Improved documentation and instructions
