Driving Directions:

Take I-95 to exit 147, Vero Beach exit. Proceed east on S.R. 60 to downtown Vero Beach, approx. 7.0 miles. In downtown Vero Beach, SR 60 splits into 19th Place heading east and 20th Street heading west. Once SR 60 splits into these one-way streets, get into the left lane. Proceed until you get to the intersection of 14th Avenue. Continue through the intersection, immediately past Old Dixie Highway; our office will be on the left (look for the two tan buildings/large parking lot on the north side of 19th Place). The public entrance is at the corner of Old Dixie and 20th Street.

Additional parking is available in the municipal parking lot one block east of the FWS office on S.R. 60.

2010-2014 Strategic Plan

Goal 1. Conserve South Florida Fish, Wildlife, Plants, and Their Ecosystems and Promote Natural Resource Conservation Consistent with Federal Authorities and Science Using Strategic Habitat Conservation Principles.
  • Objective A: Develop an integrated vision of land use balance, with an emphasis on external partners, and including internal partners
  • Objective B: Maximize conservation benefits and create scientifically credible landscape
  • Objective C: Reduce (e.g., minimize, mitigate, compensate, control) threats to ecosystems and species conservation and eliminate them where possible
  • Objective D: Work with partners to ensure Federal project proposals maintain a neutral or overall beneficial development-conservation balance, consistent with Federal regulations
Goal 2. Foster a Public Conservation Culture.
  • Objective A: Improve corporate identity (i.e., external recognition of our presence and programs for the community [local and regional])
  • Objective B: Develop partnerships for connecting people with nature
  • Objective C: The "greening" of the South Florida Ecological Services Office (i.e., become leaders in adhering to practices that are conscious of biological and environmental impacts)
Goal 3. Create a successful twenty-first century organization.
  • Objective A: Communicate and implement a vision that can be shared by all employees
  • Objective B: Create, empower, and flexibly manage the workforce to enhance organizational performance and mission accomplishment
  • Objective C: Develop and enhance the necessary tools, systems, and work environment to effectively and efficiently implement the office Mission
