Recreation

Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge provides a variety of recreational and educational activities--all specially focused on our wildlife and their habitats.  Please visit us to discover the beauty of the Tualatin River Valley, view abundant wildlife, learn about the historic landscapes that once dominated this area, and find out how the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service manages the refuge.

• Be sure to check out the information kiosks before heading out on the trails.

• Trails are for walking only.  To minimize disturbance to wildlife, no bicycling, jogging, or running. 

• Pets are not allowed on the refuge.  They disturb wildlife and will scare animals away even before you get a chance to see them.

• The refuge is open daily from dawn to dusk.

•  No hunting or fishing opportunites exist on the refuge.

Come visit and explore our new exhibits, non-profit nature store, and our indoor and outdoor viewing areas.  Learn about the history of the Tualatin River, the people who have come here over the years, and the land that is now part of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Learn about the refuge's wildlife and habitats and how they are part of the National Wildlife Refuge System. 

 

 

Be sure to visit Nature's Overlook--a non-profit nature store operated by Friends of the Refuge.

 

 

The Wildlife Center is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m and closed on Mondays.

Weekend hours are extended to 10:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Coming during the holidays?  See schedule below or call 503-625-5945 for holiday hours. Occasional severe winter weather keeps our volunteers at home, so call ahead if in doubt.  Volunteers are ready to welcome you and answer your questions.
