General Regulations
· The Refuge is open daily from 5:00 am until 10:00 pm.
· The Refuge office and visitor center is open weekdays from
8:00 am to 4:30 pm, except for Federal holidays.
· The North Lake Road is closed to vehicles from October 1 through
April 30. A section of the North Lake Road is open year round as shown
on the map. All other Refuge trails are closed to vehicles, including
snowmobiles and ATVs.
· The Point Road is open, if passible, until November 1.
· PACK IT OUT! The Refuge has a "Pack It Out" trash
policy. Help keep your Refuge clean.
· Except for the following Refuge-specific regulations, all other North Dakota State hunting and fishing regulations are in effect. For these State Regulations, see ND Game & Fish.
Hunting
· Deer and pheasants are the only animals that may be hunted
on the Refuge. All other animals are protected.
· There is no retrieval zone on the Refuge.
· All Refuge lands are open to hunting except the closed areas
marked on the map.
· Easement refuges are closed to hunting.
· Waterfowl hunting is not permitted on the Refuge.
· Hunting on the ice is not allowed from The Point to the north
shore of Lake Tewaukon.
Deer Hunting
. Concurrent season 2G2 deer tag holders may hunt the Refuge. They are
restricted to the seasons listed for rifle and archery.
Youth Deer Gun
. Season is open from noon on September 18 through September 27.
Rifle
· Season is open from noon on November 6through November 22.
· Anyone with 2G2 unit anterlerless tag may
hunt the Refuge for the entire 16 1/2 day season. They may also hunt
anywhere in the 2G2 unit.
· Only Refuge antlered tag holders may hunt antlered deer on
the Refuge. They may also hunt anywhere in the 2G2 unit.
Archery
. Season is open from noon on September 4 through September 30, and
from one-half hour before sunrise on November 27 through January 3,
2010.
Pheasant Hunting
. Season is open from one-half hour before sunrise on November 23 through
January 3, 2010.
. Nontoxic shot is required when hunting pheasants
on the Refuge and when hunting waterfowl, upland birds, and small game
on all Waterfowl Production Areas.
Fishing
. Bank fishing is permitted year-round on Lake Tewaukon and Sprague
Lake.
· Ice fishing is permitted on Lake Tewaukon and Sprague Lake.
· Lake access for ice fishing is at the north and east end boat
ramps on Lake Tewaukon and the east and west boat ramps on Sprague Lake.
· There is an aerator in Lake Tewaukon. This area is closed to
ice fishing. Please refer to the map or the signs located at the north
and east end boat ramps.
· All other Refuge waters are closed to fishing.
· Lake Tewaukon and Sprague Lake are closed to boats beginning
October 1 through April 30.
Minimum Size Limits
. Fish species may be kept according to North Dakota State fishing regulations.
Wildlife Observation and Photography
· The Refuge is open to wildlife observation and photography
in limited areas. Please consult Refuge Manager for information.
. A scenic overlook has been established on the south side of Lake Tewaukon
off County Road 5 to view migratory birds.
