ATTENTION THE APPLICATION PROCESS HAS CHANGED FOR THE DEER LOTTERY HUNTS AND ATV PERMITS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!
Deer Lottery Hunts (Nov. 29-30, 2013 or Dec. 14-15, 2013) :

http://www.tensaspermits.com/

A Refuge Access permit (on the cover of the Tensas River NWR Public Use Brochure) is required for all Refuge Users, it must be signed and in your possession.  A valid permit is required for the Deer Lottery Hunt in addition to the OMB 1018-0153 (Tensas River NWR Self Clearing Permit) and a valid State license and tag. All deer must be checked at the nearest check station. Only persons with a valid Deer Lottery Hunt permit are allowed on the refuge during the hunt.  All other activities are prohibited during the Deer Lottery Hunt. All Deer Lottery Hunts require an application to be completed and processed through the Kinsail Corporation.  All youth applicants must be a minimum of 8 years of age. Youths are generally defined as those individuals 17 years of age or younger. Youths under the age of 16 may hunt without hunter education certification if they are accompanied by and under direct supervision of a person born before September 1, 1969 that has a valid hunting license; or they are accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a person who is 18 years of age or older and has proof of successful completion of a hunter education course approved by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Direct supervision means that the person being supervised is within a normal audible voice contact and in direct line of sight of the supervising person at all times while hunting. The supervising adult is responsible for ensuring that youth hunters do not engage in conduct that would constitute a violation of refuge regulations. Each adult can supervise no more than one youth hunter during big game hunts and no more than two youth hunters during waterfowl and upland game hunting. Persons supervising youth hunters are responsible for violations of Laws and Regulations committed by the youth hunter they are supervising while on the refuge.

Please note, submissions of any person’s name more than once for the Deer Lottery Hunts will result in disqualification.

On-line applications will be accepted from July 9, 2013 until September 6, 2013 at 4p.m. eastern standard time.  All paper applications must be received (not postmarked) by September 6, 2013.
