Spring Internship

Location: Tennessee NWR, Duck River Unit, near New Johnsonville, Tennessee.

Dates: January to Mid-May (flexible)

Hours: Normally, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Occasionally the hours may vary depending on the assignment.

Salary: Although no salary is paid, Interns are provided a $100/week  food stipend.

Housing: Housing is provided free of charge (utilities paid) in the refuge's Bunkhouse - a 24' x 40' double-wide trailer.

Duties: Assist the biological technician, refuge biologist, maintenance staff, and on-site supervisor with various activities including spraying/mapping of invasives, vegetation surveys in moist soil units, water level manipulation, shorebird survey, planting winter wheat and data entry into a computer. Assist in other day to day operations, administrative work and maintenance on the refuge.

Qualifications:

A student or recent graduate majoring in a field related to natural resources is desired. A current driver's license is required. Applicants need to be comfortable working with others and independently. Applicants should be willing to do strenuous work outdoors under extreme weather conditions.
