Ritidian to reopen to the public on Sunday, December 17

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will reopen the Guam National Wildlife Refuge (the Refuge) at Ritidian, including Ritidian Beach, on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 7:30am to 4:00pm. Ritidian has been closed due to physical and species recovery efforts after Typhoon Mawar in May.

On the reopening date, Refuge staff invites the public to attend the Refuge’s 30^th anniversary celebration between 10:00am to 2:00pm across the main beach parking at Ritidian. During the celebration event, attendees may go to Ritidian’s caves and/or create holiday eco-crafts.

Guides will escort attendees to explore two caves and see ancient CHamoru pictographs. Visitors will use natural and/or recycled materials to create holiday decorations and eco-crafts. Some natural or recycled materials will include coconut husk, cardboard, and bamboo. Both activities do not require pre-registration.

The Refuge will resume Ritidian’s normal operational hours for the public Wednesday to Sunday from 7:30am to 4:00pm beginning December 20.
