Volunteer

Volunteer doing habitat restorationVolunteers are the backbone for many of the refuge's programs. Thousands of hours are donated annually by dedicated volunteers helping with programs such as environmental education, refuge tours, habitat restoration, bird counts, wood duck box monitoring, office work, and many more! New volunteers are recruited and go through a short series of orientation sessions to become a member of our growing team. The refuge does not rehabilitate injured or orphaned animals; please contact the Wildlife Care Association to volunteer for tending animals.

How can I be a Volunteer?

To be a volunteer all you need is the desire and passion to help contribute to the conservation and education of Sacramento's own wildlife refuge! We know your time is valuable, so we try to match you up with your interests and abilities. It's a great way to give back to the environment and meet new friends with similar interests.

The next new Volunteer Orientation Sessions will be (you must RSVP!): TBA

Please check back in October for new volunteer training listings.

For more information on becoming a volunteer with the refuge, please fillout a basic volunteer application by going to www.volunteer.gov, or contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (916) 775-4421.
