Recreational opportunities abound on Stillwater and Fallon Refuges. From waterfowl hunting to bird watching and wildlife observation, diverse habitats offer a variety of opportunites. The Fallon Refuge is primitive, with no signage or comfort stations. A trip to Fallon Refuge requires the assistance of a four-wheel drive vehicle. On Stillwater Refuge, there is a new tour loop, interpretive and orientation signs as well as a number of comfort stations. If you are venturing farther than the tour loop, please be advised that any amount of precipitation can render passage quite impossible. The primitive nature of these areas is precisely what makes them such satisfying wildlife observation and birding locations. Truly a recreation destination. Anaho Island NWR is closed to public visitation. Important road information for Stillwater NWR: West County and North Roads are very rough and impassable in bad weather. Please be advised. |
