| Source |
The official values to be used for this data element are
available in
Text and
Excel formats. These source files include the official unit names and
Literal codes assigned by the
Washington Office, Division of
Realty, for land units with an "active" status as of
January 12, 2005. An ASCII delimited file of the IFWS numbers, official organization codes, and official organization names is also available at this site. This file was downloaded from the Corporate Master Table (CMT) System, the official repository of Service organization codes and related information. The CMT does not contain IFWS numbers and official names assigned to units without official organization codes. Whenever applicable, the official organization names reflect the official unit names maintained by the Division of Realty. Since the information in the CMT System is dynamic, the ASCII delimited file does not reflect any additions, changes, or deletions made on or after January 24, 2005. For the most current data on the Service's official organization codes and organization names, please contact Barb White, CMT System Administrator, by electronic mail (Barb_White@fws.gov) or phone (303-275-2310). |

As of the approval date, this data element will be used in any new automated system,
data set, database, or information application, including new Geographic Information
System (GIS) data and applications. This data element will also be used in any major
modifications to existing systems or versions of these data-related items that use the
six-digit alphanumeric codes assigned by the Washington Office, Division of Realty, to
organizational units, areas, or project sites over which the Service has some type of
jurisdiction. Each organizational unit, area, or project site should have a unique IFWS
number; however, there are a few instances where the same IFWS number has been assigned to
more than one unit. Therefore, please contact the Data Steward identified in this
standard prior to using duplicate IFWS numbers in any new or existing data
files. To ensure compliance with the Service Information and Technology Architecture (SITA), Service staff are strongly encouraged to utilize this data element in existing systems, data sets, databases, and information applications. Where existing systems and data-related items are not in compliance, they should be modified to achieve compatibility and implement this data standard. Whenever possible, the IFWS number should be used in conjunction with the official Organization Code and Organization Name. |
