Regulations:

Hunting will be in accordance with all applicable Federal and State regulations during this 23-day mini season (Oct 6-28, 2007).

Minimum distance between hunt parties is 200 yards. Hunters must visibly wear 400 square inches of hunter orange above the waist AND a hunter orange hat or cap. You must hunt within the confines of the boundary as defined by the map, signs, and boundary paint. You are allowed to scout the area one week before season starts. You should have a compass or GPS. Cell phones may not work. Hunters may be expected to walk long distances to reach some areas available to hunting. No weapons will be allowed during the designated scouting week.

We do not allow the use of dogs, feeders, baiting, campsites, fires, bicycles, horses, or all-terrain vehicles (ATV) (except one unit which will allow limited ATV use for medically documented disabled hunters). Carts or wagons rolled in are okay, but this area is usually wet and muddy during winter months.

Youth hunters must be under the direct and visual supervision of an adult 18 or older. Permit holder MUST be hunting on same days with guest or youth hunter.

You must enter and park in designated areas only, near entrance gate.

Hunters may enter the Refuge no earlier than 5:00 a.m. Hunting will be permitted from ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.

No hunting along main roads or trails winding through the unit.

To get accurate hunt data, we will require all hunters that are selected to submit a data log card that will be sent with the hunt permit. Those failing to return a completed card will not be allowed to hunt the following year. YOU MUST DISPLAY THIS CARD ON DASHBOARD WHILE HUNTING. This will allow us to spot check parking areas for permitted hunters.
