Proposed Hunt Plans

Opening Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge to Big Game and Upland Game Hunting

Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, Liberty County, Texas, is proposing to open parts of the refuge to Big Game (deer, hog) and Upland Game (squirrel, rabbit) hunting beginning in the 2004/05 season. Please click the following link to view the hunt plans and the Environmental Assessment (DRAFT Hunt Plans). Public review and written comments are needed on these plans as part of the National Environmental Policy Act requirements. All written comments are required in this office by December 22, 2003. You may email your comments to fw2_rw_trinityriver@fws.gov.

A public meeting will be held by the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service to provide information and receive comments from the general public on the DRAFT Big Game and Upland Game Hunting Plan for the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, Liberty County, Texas. The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on November 18, 2003, at the First Liberty National Bank, 1900 Sam Houston Street, Liberty, TX.

The U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service proposes opening approximately 5,000 acres on four units in Liberty County to permit-only Big Game (deer, hogs) and Upland Game (squirrel, rabbit) hunting beginning with the 2004/2005 season. A limited number of hunters would be drawn for the proposed 9 day hunt for each hunt.
