Simple Rules at the Refuge

Law enforcement personnel patrol the Refuge and do enforce the following:

• Daily registration is required of all visitors.
• Pets must be kept on a short leash at all times.
• Speed limit is 25 m.p.h. Be watchful for wildlife crossing the roadways.
• No firearms are allowed on the Refuge Tour Loop.
• No feeding animals.

• Fishing is permitted only at designated access areas from April 15 – October 15.
• No littering. There are very few trashcans on the Refuge. Please carry out all your own trash.
• Bicycling is permitted on the auto tour loop only, not on walking trails.
• Kayaks and canoes can only be put in at the fishing access points from April 15 – October 15.
• For your own safety, stay on trails and walkways. Otherwise, you could encounter ticks, chiggers, or snakes off-trail.
