Yellow Rail Walks
March & April
Walk the salty prairie habitat in search of the elusive yellow rail and
learn about yellow rail ecology and management. This challenging walk
through the marsh requires waterproof rubber boots, plenty of insect repellent
and a good supply of drinking water. All tours begin at the Visitor Information
Station. Please call the Refuge or visit www.friendsofanahuacnwr.org
for more information.

Family Fishing
Day
Saturday, June 7th, 2008 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Hosted annually, Family Fishing Day includes hands-on demonstrations and activities designed for both beginning and experienced anglers. Held during National Fishing and Boating Week, the event takes place on the first Saturday in June, coinciding with the state of Texas' free fishing day – the only day of the year anglers can fish or crab without a fishing license. Activities typically include crabbing for kids, target casting, fish identification, introductory fishing, fly-fishing and more.
Anahuac Wildlife Expo
Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Spend the day on Anahuac NWR participating in hands-on, educational activities and games focusing on our native wildlife and habitats. Celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week at your National Wildlife Refuge!
