Law Enforcement

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service maintains a strong law enforcement presence on the South Texas Refuge Complex. Federal law enforcement agents patrol the Santa Ana, Laguna Atascosa and Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuges to ensure the safety of the public and the protection of natural resources. They address many illegal activities, including poaching, taking of endangered species, dumping of trash, illegal operation of all terrain vehicles and trespassing.
