Native American Environmental Education

The Native American EE Program, established in June of 1998, has developed a number of programs for various Plains Tribes. Many of these educational programs are scheduled on weekends, which allows time for more in-depth learning experiences. One past program combined art, tribal tradition, and modern environmental ethics in a format that celebrates the Native American heritage and wildlife legacy. Participants are first engaged in a series of hands-on activities designed to instill awareness and appreciation of environmental issues, while giving the students a "sense of the sacred" in the Native American relationship with the natural world. Programs vary.

Contact the Refuge's Environmental Education Section for reservations or information.
