About the Refuge - Cooperative Farming
Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge currently farms about 3,100 acres through its cooperative farming program. This program allows the refuge to provide supplemental forage for resident and migratory wildlife, specifically migratory waterfowl.

Refuge crops, such as wheat, corn and soybeans, are grown by local farmers. A percentage of these crops are left standing in the field during harvest. These crops add to the diversity, quality and quantity of foods available for wildlife.
