Hunting Information

All hunting on the Refuge requires a signed permit validated for the current year. The permit can be found on the current year's hunting brochure, and may be found at the Refuge office, or in a Refuge parking area brochure box. The signed permit is necessary for general hunting on the Refuge, but is not required for controlled deer hunts. Only the species listed in the current year's hunt brochure may be taken on the Refuge. The Refuge is open to the following hunts: archery and muzzleloader deer (controlled), squirrel, rabbit, raccoon and duck. Dates for each of the hunts are specific for this refuge, and are not the same as other federal or state refuge areas. For specific exclusions and regulations see hunting regulations

The Refuge has completed eleven parking lots for public access. Most parking lots have a brochure distribution box that allows the public to obtain Refuge hunting brochures and permits, and general Refuge information.

Refuge roads are unimproved, and not open to public vehicles access. All parking lots are located on County roads leading to the Refuge, and most are in good condition. The Refuge has mowed walking trails at most Refuge parking areas.
