Volunteer

Volunteering at Bitter Lake NWR can be an extremely rewarding experience. Services performed by volunteers are valuable in accomplishing refuge goals, and are important in wildlife conservation.

Volunteer services are needed most at the refuge during the spring, summer and fall months ( Winter volunteers will be needed upon the completion of our new visitor center).

Volunteer Needs Include:

  • Trail maintenance
  • Biological Assistant
  • Garage Mechanic
  • Carpentry
  • Computer Graphics and Digital Photography
  • Festival Assistant Coordinator
  • Exhibit Designer
  • Taxidermy
  • Tour Guide (interpretation)
  • Environmental Education (school   outreach programs)
  • Education Booklet Designer
  • Native plant landscaping
  • Trash cleanup
