Kayaking and Canoeing

Colorado River
Local boat launches that allow access to the Colorado River include the Topock Gorge Marina, Arizona (exit 1, I-40); Park Moabi (located 11 miles south of Needles, California on I-40); and at Havasu State Park at Windsor Beach (on London Bridge Road in Lake Havasu City). There are many other private and public boat launches along the Colorado River.

Paddlers can enjoy a down river experience by launching at either Topock Gorge Marina or Park Moabi and paddling through the Havasu Wilderness Area. Castle Rock, located at river mile 220, is a designated take out area for non-motorized boats. Access to the Castle Rock parking area is off of Vista Drive in the community of Crystal Beach. It is necessary to portage the boats approximately 100 yards to/from the sandy beach landing area.

Castle Rock Bay is closed to PWC use and is a No Wake Zone for all other watercraft.

Topock Marsh
A small portion of Topock Marsh is closed to all entry annually from October 1st through the end of the State quail season to decrease disturbance to wildlife. Closed Area signs mark the boundaries.

There are free boat launches on Topock Marsh at North Dike, Fivemile Landing (on County Route 1), and Catfish Paradise (on Oatman Highway/Route 66). Each landing has designated parking.

North Dike marks the northern boundary of the Marsh where water diverted from the Colorado River enters the Marsh.

Fivemile Landing is near the middle of the Marsh. Fivemile Landing is a refuge concessionaire and has a small refreshment store with running water and bathrooms.

Catfish Paradise is at the south end of the Marsh and has a non-water bathroom facility.
