OKLAHOMA
The Wallop-Breaux Amendments to the Sport Fish Restoration Act have made a dramatic impact on boating access in Oklahoma. Since 1987 more than 90 local governments have partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation to construct 87 boat ramps, 90 boat docks and 77 parking facilities. Since 1987 Sport Fish Restoration funds totalling more than $11 million have helped build and maintain more than 90 public launch ramps throughout the state. In addition to boating access projects on state sites, Texas Parks and Wildlife provides assistance to local governments, which share the costs and assume responsibility for the operations and maintainance of the facilities.
