Federal Assistance To States


This division administers the distribution of funds collected from Federal excise taxes on the sales of hunting and fishing equipment and boats and boat motors, to State fish and wildlife resource agencies. Federal aid funding for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is administered by the Service's Federal Assistance office in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Regional Office. This division also reviews proposals from States for expenditure of funds appropriated by Congress under authority of Section 6 of the Endangered Species Act for status surveys, research, and recovery projects for species of concern, candidate, proposed, and listed threatened and endangered species.
