Jemez Mountains Salamander Training Workshop

July 16-17, 2013

Valles Caldera Science and Education Center
90 Villa Louis Martin
Jemez Springs, NM 87025

This training is intended for individuals that will be performing Jemez Mountains salamander detection surveys. The training only prepares you to conduct detection surveys; it does not permit you to conduct surveys in New Mexico including public and private lands. For those intending to conduct Jemez Mountains salamander surveys, a state scientific collecting permit is required. In addition to a state issued permit, for surveys conducted on USDA Forest Service lands, unless exempted, a permit issued by the USDA Forest Service is required, for surveys conducted on Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) a VCNP issued permit is required, and for surveys conducted on Bandelier National Monument lands, a permit issued by the National Park Service is required. At this time a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service permit is not required; however if the species becomes listed under the Endangered Species Act, a Section 10(a)1(A) Recovery permit will be required.

In cooperation with:
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Southwest Region
New Mexico Department of Game and Fish
USDA Forest Service, Santa Fe National Forest
U.S. Geological Survey
The Nature Conservancy
Valles Caldera National Preserve
