10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.-Ceremony (by invitation
only):
Dedication, official remarks, ribbon cutting, unveiling of a
bronze plaque to recognize donors. Symbolic transfer of the
first pair of parrots from the old aviary to the new Iguaca
Aviary and release inside the new flight cage. The winner of
the First Puerto Rican Parrot Woodcarving Contest will be
announced. Special performance by the youth folk group
Herencia Cultural.
1:00-4:30 p.m. Public Open House – Once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity for the public to visit the new facility before the
captive parrot population is transferred from the old aviary.

To get to El Portal from San Juan, follow road PR-3
to Río
Grande. Take a right turn on PR-191 (entrance to El Yunque).
Drive 4.2 Km. Entrance to El Portal will be to your right.
