The United States Departments of Interior and Commerce announce a public meeting of the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF) March 1-2, 2007, in Washington D.C. Through the coordinated efforts of its members, including representatives of 12 federal agencies, the governors of seven states and territories, and the leaders of the Freely Associated States, the Task Force has helped lead U.S. efforts to protect and manage valuable coral reef ecosystems in the U.S. and internationally.

This public meeting will feature welcome remarks by Dick Kempthorne, secretary of interior; a keynote speech by Lynn Scarlet, deputy secretary of interior; a closing talk by Jim Sanchirico, Resources for the Future; and a panel on the accomplishments, challenges, needs and partnership opportunities of the Local Action Strategy initiative.
