Missing section of boardwalk at Bon Secour NWR.
Bon Secour Ivan Storm Surge Erosion. Receding flood waters from Hurricane Ivan leave behind damage to the boardwalk at Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Located at the foot of Mobile Lane, the end of the boardwalk was torn away when winds and a rising storm surge came ashore on the Alabama coast. Also flattened was the dune field which normally protected the interior of the refuge from wind and wave action from the Gulf of Mexico.
