PUBLIC SCOPING MEETINGS SCHEDULED FOR FLORIDA PANTHER AND
TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGES
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will conduct public scoping meetings as part of its comprehensive planning efforts for Florida Panther and Ten Thousand Islands national wildlife refuges. Four meetings will be held; two for each refuge. The purpose of the meetings is to answer questions and gather public comments on issues and concerns over past, present and future management of these two refuges.
The first meeting for Ten Thousand Islands refuge will be held Wednesday, March 26, 1997, 6 - 9 p.m. at Edison Community College gymnasium, 7007 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples, Florida. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, April 2, 1997, 6 - 9 p.m. at the Port of the Islands Hotel, Egret Room, 25000 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, Florida.
The initial meeting for Florida Panther refuge will be held Thursday, March 27, 1997, 6 - 9 p.m., Comfort Inn Motel, 2nd Floor Banquet Room, 3860 Tollgate Boulevard, Naples, Florida. The second meeting will be held Thursday, April 3, 1997, 6 - 9 p.m., Collier County Extension Auditorium, 12850 Immokalee Road, Naples, Florida.
Survey forms to collect information regarding specific issues will be passed out at these meetings. Refuge staff will be available to answer questions. Those unable to attend the public meetings who wish to provide written comments on issues of concern, may do so by writing to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 3860 Tollgate Boulevard, Suite 30, Naples, Florida 34114. Survey forms are also available at this address. The deadline for written comments is April 11, 1997.
