| The
Resident Agent-in-Charge is the field supervisor for the investigative and
administrative activities of the 6 Special Agents stationed in Tennessee(4)
and Kentucky(2). This office supports and supervises Service related
wildlife investigations, including the unlawful importation of wildlife
through major airports at Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, Covington (Cincinnati)
and U.S. Customs port(s) of entry, the illegal killing of migratory birds
by poisons and other means, and the unlawful take of federally listed endangered
or threatened species. Special Agents, in addition to initiating their
own investigations, handle referrals from agents in other states regarding Tennessee and Kentucky residents who commit criminal acts in other states and subsequently transport illegally taken wildlife in interstate commerce. This area includes the Appalachian Mountains which is host to a wide variety of protected wildlife and plant species as well as the Mississippi Delta and Mississippi and Ohio River regions. |
