Santee Christmas Bird Count - One of the most popular Christmas Bird Counts (CBC) in South Carolina, this survey includes the entire Santee National Wildlife Refuge, the town of Summerton, the town of Santee, and the Santee State Park. This one-day bird survey will generally result in over 130 species seen. Part of the Audubon organized event which takes place across North and South America, 2011 is the 112th year of this count, which has helped reserchers document shifts in migratory bird populations due to a changing climate.
