Environmental Education
Environmental Education is an important part of St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge. Area schools are encouraged to bring students to the Refuge for special tours. Past tours have allowed students the opportunity to learn about basic habitat management strategies and techniques. The Friends of St Catherine Creek Refuge are hosting several fundraising projects to fund the construction of an Environmental Education center, which would include classroom areas, presentation areas, and hands-on learning areas. Educational workshops are in the process of being developed by members of the Friends Group. For more information on the newest workshop, click below.

The Magnolia Hiking trail also provides an opportunitiy for environmental education. An Animal Olympics Course is set up along the begining of the trail. 14 stations offer fun facts about wildlife found here on the refuge and encourage hikers to "jump like a deer" and "waddle like a duck". Stop by headquarters to pick up a station check-list, and when you've completed all the tasks bring it back to receive a certificate!
Educators wishing to utilize the resources that the refuge has to offer must contact the office via email or call us at (601) 442-6696 if a refuge employee is needed for a presentation.
