Photography

The auto tour and walking trail on both Sacramento and Colusa NWRs provide excellent photographic opportunities. Typically, the best time of year for photography occurs from November through February when a variety of waterfowl and shorebirds are present.

Nature Video
We’re partnering with KXIE to bring you Nature: Caught in the Act. Visit one of our refuges, produce video footage of the wildlife and natural settings, and then enter your short video in the contest. National Wildlife Refuges are a great place to capture nature on film, but please remember wildlife comes first! We ask that you stay in your vehicle along auto tour routes except in designated areas. If you choose to explore nature on foot please stay on designated trails. Your video could be aired on KIXE during a live broadcast of The Best of Nature: Caught in the Act immediately preceding the airing of NATURE at 8 p.m. Sunday, October 18. Hope you enjoy catching nature in the act!

Hope you enjoy your visit!
