Programmatic Consultations
Federal agencies consult with us to avoid jeopardizing listed species. These consultations are under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Agencies also consult to avoid harming critical habitat (PDF). See our main Consultations page for general information.
Whenever possible, we do a programmatic consultation that addresses multiple projects. These opinions typically cover small projects. They require that applicants take specific steps to protect endangered species.
Projects that fit these criteria can go through a streamlined process.
